Kanye West didn't attend the 2012 VMAs because of Kim Kardashian

Kanye West has attended the VMAs consecutively for the last three years, giving memorable moments each time. However, Mr. West did not appear at this years VMAs.

Rumors surfaced stating that West was slated to perform at the award ceremony which aired Thursday night. However, representatives have confirmed to New York Daily News that West was never scheduled to perform or attend for that matter.

The real reason why West did not show up for the VMAs is because he supported his girlfriend, Kim Kardashians new fragrance launch in New York instead, via The Huffington Post.

A source in Kims camp told The Daily Mail ,Kims in New York for her fragrance launch and Kanye didnt want to go to the VMAs if she couldnt be there.

Kanye not attending the VMAs this year comes as a shocker because he was featured in the heavily rotated promo commercial alongside Kim K and the host, Kevin Hart.

Although West did not attend the awards ceremony, he was nominated for two awards: Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Editing for his record, Mercy.
