Kanye West and Kim Kardashian Coordinate Outfits, Hold Hands in New York City

West and Kardashian, longtime friends and rumored lovers, attended the grand opening of Scott Disick's new Japanese restaurant RYU in Manhattan's Meatpacking District hand-in-hand on Monday evening. Though neither Kim nor Kanye has confirmed or denied their relationship, they're certainly willing to let the public believe in it.
The pair even looked as if they'd coordinated outfits, with West sporting sleek black pants and a tailored blazer, and Kim in a matching black peplum dress, her face covered in its usual strata of foundation. Inside the party, Kanye was pictured with his hand slung casually over Kim's knee.
Kim and Kanye are actually surprisingly well-matched. Here's why:
They both love fashion.There's a reason why Kim happily shills everything from hair removal systems to fake tanners: She's got a clothing obsession to support. Kanye is probably one of the few men in the world who actively seeks women who use Herms Birkins as gym bags, while Kim is one of the only women who'd dare splash out $6K for a pair of West! 's over- the-top beaded sandals. They can rely on each other to understand why they need a blue-dyed chinchilla jacket or those Back to the Future sneakers.
They've both battled backlash.Kanye West's contributions to the hip-hop world are undeniable. His work, however, has long been overshadowed by his apparent inability to check his ego, most notably when he took the stage at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards to proclaim Beyonc Knowles' greatness in the middle of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech. Even President Obama called him a jackass.Kim, meanwhile, managed to build a licensing empire on what most entertainment insiders would consider a shaky foundation: a sex tape. Rare is the woman who can parlay an embarrassing betrayal into an opportunity to sell pre-paid credit cards. Though she's always faced her share of detractors, Kim saw her popularity take a major hit after she announced her divorce from second husband Kris Humphries after a mere 72 days of marriage.
Neither has a problem with overexposure.Nope. None. All of their privates are visible on the Internet.
Both could stand to date someone who gets more attention than they do.Tyra Banks once explained that she preferred to date non-celebrities, as "one celebrity plus another celebrity equals five... the paparazzi will just start mixing my name with theirs." Kim and Kanye obviously won't mind any of the extra attention.
But this works in their favor for other reasons, too: Until now, neither star has ever dated someone who regularly receives more attention. Though Kanye paraded his ex-girlfriend Amber Rose around like a very sexy prop, it was clear from the start that her fame was entirely his creation. The same could be said of Kim's ex Kris Humphries, to some degree. Now that the playing field has finally been leveled, maybe they've actually got the chance to become better people together.
Or they'll break up and it'll make all the papers. We'll see.
