Kanye West dedicates 'Watch the Throne' Chicago show to late mother
West is currently on the 'Watch the Throne' tour with fellow rapper Jay-Z, and made the stop in his hometown last Thursday (December 1).
"I wanna dedicate this show to the lady that brought me to Chicago at age 3," West addressed the audience, reports AOL Music.
"The first black female chair of the English department at Chicago State University - Dr Donda Claire-Ann West."
The 'All Of The Lights' rapper added: "I know she up there looking down right now and she helped me get through these past four years, when America turned their back on me, when the world turned their back on me for telling y'all the motherf**king truth."
He also thanked his hometown as well as Beyonce and Jay-Z for their support during his "darkest hours".
West also commented during the show about not getting nominated for the Grammys 'Album of the Year' award, for which he blames himself.
