Kanye West Says He's 'Working on My New S***'
It might not be a cruel summer after all: In an on-stage appearance in Paris, France, Kanye West told a crowd he's been "working on my new shit," as Consquence of Sound reported.
"I'll be back in a couple months," West added, a hopeful note for fans anticipating his solo follow-up to 2010's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" after collaborations with Jay-Z ("Watch the Throne") and his G.O.O.D. Music label signees ("Cruel Summer"). However, as collaborator The-Dream revealed backstage at the Grammys, West has been working on his next album in Paris--so perhaps he's just planning another recording session.
West's release future has been a murky crystal ball in recent months, with rumors of a "Cruel Winter" posse album leading up to, so far, a West-free teaser video. Earlier in February, an unconfirmed screenshot launched reports that the album would be titled "Rich Black American," and feature collaborations with Skrillex and Florence Welch, among others. But something's afoot: he's stepping out this week with several surprise gigs, with shows in Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK still to come. He'll play the Governors Ball Music Festival in New York in June, with plenty of room for a solo summer: "Throne" partner Jay-Z will be busy touring with Justin Timberlake in July and August.
West will have at least one new project this year: fatherhood. Girlfriend Kim Kardashian is pregnant with the couple's first child.
