Kanye West is the latest US music star rumoured to be in talks with regards to being a judge on the next season of American Idol.

TMZ reports that the hip-hop star has "expressed interest" in taking part in the show, after its producers reached out to him.

However, sources told TMZ that he is still "on the fence", but that if he were to take part, his salary would have to match that of fellow judge Mariah Carey, who is on a whopping $18 million (11.4 million) a year.

TMZ says that other rumoured new judges are Keith Urban, Brad Paisley and Enrique Iglesias.

Earlier today it was reported that Nicki Minaj is also considering becoming a judge on American Idol.

US gossip magazine US Weekly has spoken to two sources who claim that Minaj has agreed to be a part of the show's judging panel, which they also say will include Jonas Brother Nick Jonas and N.E.R.D's Pharrell Williams.

The reality series' judging panel for its 2011-2012 series featured Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, both of whom have stated that they will not be returning. Music mogul Randy Jackson has yet to confirm whether he will be returning to the show for its next season.
