Kanye West to follow 'Cruel Summer' with a solo album

Producer No I.D. has revealed that Kanye West will follow up the collaborative album, Cruel Summer, with his sixth solo studio album.

No I.D. broke the news to MTV when he revealed that, while he would not produce tracks on Cruel Summer, he is currently working on an upcoming Kanye West solo album.

"I'm not working on that [Cruel Summer] album, I'm working on his album," he said.

Wests last album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, was released in 2010 and featured four songs where No I.D. was a co-producer. No I.D. also produced three tracks on Wests 2008 album, 808s & Heartbreak, including the hit-single Heartless.

Since My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, West has released Watch the Throne, on which he collaborated with Jay-Z. Next month, Cruel Summer, Wests collaborative album with the artists signed to his GOOD record label, including Kid Cudi and Mr. Hudson, will be released.

Last month, a 30-minute film associated with the album, also titled Cruel Summer, debuted at Cannes Film Festival. The film starred Kid Cudi, who previously acted in HBOs How to Make It in America, as a car thief who falls in love with a blind Arabian princess, according to NME.

Although he is not involved in the project, No I.D. spoke highly of Cruel Summer and said he expects the album to be a major success.

"This is Kanye. You know what to expect from the family, he said. He hasn't missed yet, so don't expect him to miss. It's what you expect and everything you don't expect."
