Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music Comp "Pretty, Pretty Close" To Completion, Says Mannie Fresh [Video]

As fans eagerly await the spring-targeted G.O.O.D. Music compilation album helmed by rap star Kanye West, contributing producer Mannie Fresh has reflected on the project's journey and current status.

Although not yet fully completed, Fresh admitted the LP is practically in the books.

"The cool thing about G.O.O.D. Music is it's a bunch of great ideas," Mannie said in an interview. "I'm one of them ideas. So some songs do go through that cycle. Some songs get to me like that where they'll sayd, 'Hey, see what you can do to this song. Hey, see what you can add to this song.' So it's a good opportunity, it's a good thing. [Kanye West] is trying to find the most talented producers, the most talented artists and put them all in a room and say, 'Go for it.' It's all energy. ... In hip-hop history, when have we ever got along? It's a cool thing, we're sitting at the table, all of us get along on one accord, making good music. ... It's pretty close, it's pretty close, I would say it's pretty, pretty close to being, you know, [finished.] Like I said, the songs are phenomenal, everything. It's an album that's all over the place. It's not just one thing." (MTV)

Back in late January, G.O.O.D. Music's Hit-Boy provided a small update on the project.

"I was in London for a week. It was my first time in London. Those were actually the first sessions of the G.O.O.D. Music album. I worked with my G.O.O.D. Music family and met some nice young ladies. [Laughs.] It was amazing. I did a whole bunch of stuff when I was up there," Hit-Boy revealed. "Mannie Fresh was [in the studio with us], Pusha T was there, Big Sean was there, [Kanye West] was there ! obviousl y. Marsha Ambrosius, Frank Ocean, Jay Electronica, and John Legend all came through. We all vibed and made amazing music. [I don't know if Jay Electronica spit a verse], I was just in my room working on a bunch of ideas Kanye wanted me to do. I really didn't get to come up there. But Pusha spit a gang of verses to my beats, so did Big Sean, Kanye, and John Legend." (Complex)

Earlier this year, reports emerged detailing the project's speculated first single.

A source close to Def Jam has informed me that the tentative first single from the upcoming G.O.O.D. Music compilation is to be "Lamborghini, Murci." The track, which was produced by Phoenix-based producer Lifted, is set to feature Kanye West, Pusha T and Big Sean. No word on when this is to drop, but I've heard it's a monster. (Fake Shore Drive)

Recently, rapper Jay Electronica and singer Marsha Ambrosius were revealed as likely contributors.

G.O.O.D. Music is keeping good company on its forthcoming compilation. Kanye West has called on some of his friends outside of the crew to work on the highly-anticipated album. Frank Ocean, Marsha Ambrosius, and Jay Electronica are among the latest artists to fly to London to record with Yeezy and his G.O.O.D. Music family. "In the studio with Frank Ocean, Big Sean, Pusha T, Manny Fresh :) Kanye West is on the way!!! I'm having fun today," tweeted Marsha, later adding, "Thoroughly enjoyed my quick trip to London. Witnessed greatness. @PUSHA_T 'THAT VERSE!' & @BigSean 'Marsha Marsha Marsha.' KANYE!!! #1." Former Cash Money producer Mannie Fresh has also been cooking up some tracks for the spring release, along with Big Sean, Common, Pusha T, John Legend, Mr. Hudson, Hit-Boy and more. (Rap-Up)

A projected release date and title have not yet been announced.
