Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West is not your ordinary producer-turned-rapper as new reports reveal he has collaborated with Italian designer Giuseppe Zanotti for a line of lady stilettos priced up to nearly $6,000.
According to reports, Ye's female shoes also has a line starting out at just under $1,000.
Kanye West is a master collaborator. Last year, the Louis Vuitton Don hooked up with Jay-Z to release their tag-team Watch the Throne LP, and now the fashion-forward MC has collaborated with Italian designer Giuseppe Zanotti to drop a swanky pair of high heels. The shoes will fetch far more than a Throne CD though, with a price tag of around 4,420 euros (approximately $5,800). Folks first caught a glimpse of the bone-color, pearl-embroidered heels during Paris Fashion Week last October. The buzz around Yeezy's women's line was heavy and the reviews were mixed, though the Giuseppe heels seemed to be an overwhelming favorite. For now, Kanye and Giuseppe's hot-stepper is only available through the trendy French retailer Colette. For ballettes on a budget, there is a second, all-black strappy design made of velvet leather that goes fo! r $930. (MTV)
The shoes and their price tag have even caught the attention of singer Jordin Sparks.
"I want those shoes Ye designed for Giuseppe Zanotti. Too pricey! Id have a panic attack! They are amazing though! :)," she tweeted March 2nd. (Jordin Sparks' Twitter)
They were reportedly unveiled during last year's Paris Fashion Week.
The Stronger hit-maker debuted his women's wear clothing collection, the DW Kanye West line, at Paris Fashion Week last October, and his models strutted down the runway wearing ivory stilettos made of calf leather and embroidered pearls specially created by West and famed shoe designer Giuseppe Zanotti. In January, Ye went on a Twitter tirade dishing out how he learned how to make women's shoes from a Zanotti warehouse.
"I snuck to Giuseppe Zanotti Factory still under contract and learned to design woman's shoes for 2 years before my first show in Paris," he tweeted January 4th.
"After doing the first LV collection I was sure I would get a second shot to create but was never given the opportunity"
"I designed a sneaker called the YEEZY with Nike. I'm "allowed" to design 1 pair of sneakers every 2 years. I have more ideas..." (Kanye West's Twitter)
