Kanye West Wants To Name His Next Album 'I Am God'

Kanye West seems to have trouble with names. Last week he revealed that he and Kim Kardashian may give their child the ridiculous name North, and now reports have surfaced that the rapper plans to take his megalomania to new heights by naming his next album I Am God.

The BBC first reported that Wests latest album would be titled I Am God as a minor note in a story about potential baby names for the West-Kardashian offspring. Following the BBC report, other media outlets reported on the news, checking in with sources close to West to confirm that the rapper who once sang Jesus Walks really means it.

Kanyes ego is something else, so hes quite serious about the title, an unnamed insider told Yahoo. He also has a sense of humor, though, and knows how his self-indulgence is seen by the general public. Its half tongue-in-cheek, half what Kanye probably feels is true.

As for Wests real religious beliefs, in a 2009 interview with Bossip (which has since been removed from their website but archived on other sites like the Christian Post), West claimed the he believes in Jesus as an icon, showing that there may actually be room for West in the pantheon.

"I believe in Jesus as an icon, but I dont feel the responsibility to put my life on Jesus. I feel I need to take responsibility for my own successes and failures. Christianity is embedded in who I am, so I will still say things like this is a blessing, amen, and still say prayers; things that your grandmother embedded in you," West said during a in the interview according to the Christian Post.

In the same interview, West also referred to himself as a similar brand that inspires belief and devotion, so maybe theres a grain of truth to his I Am God title.

"What I have to realize and what shocks people, or polarizes people is that I'm actually a brand," West said. "I'm something that people build up and believe in."

Of course, its possible that reporters are simply misunderstanding Kanyes reasons for naming his next album I am God. Has anyone considered that hes simply a very big fan of Alec Baldwins performance in Aaron Sorkins 1993 thriller Malice? No? Well there you have it. Kanye West isnt a narcissist hes a film buff.
