UR1 Festival Postponed: Strong Winds Bluster Kanye West-Led Miami Lineup
Lou Reed, Animal Collective, Flying Lotus, Santigold, and more were also scheduled to perform
Miami's UR1 Festival has been postponed due to strong winds forecast during the music showcase's inaugural weekend, December 8 and 9. According to the Miami New Times, "forseeable inclement weather conditions in the Miami-Dade and South Florida region" and continued after-effects from Hurricane Sandy have forced the organizers to push back the event at Bayfront Park where Kanye West, Lou Reed, Animal Collective, Jane's Addiction, Flying Lotus, and more were slated to appear.
A rescheduling announcement has not yet been made, but could come as early as December 1. After the new dates are made public, ticket holders can choose to attend the festival or request a refund. The organizers said in a statement that they will work with local promoters and venues to hold some of the originally scheduled performances, which were supposed to coincide with the 11th annual Art Basel. Ticket holders can use their tickets, which ranged from $99 to $149, as a festival pass to attend those events. A list of venues and events accpeting UR1 tickets and vouchers will appear on the festival's website shortly.
